Hug O’War vs. Tug O’War – comparison by Shel Silverstein

July 7, 2008 by Alex T.

Hug O'War

I will not play at tug o’war.
I’d rather play at hug o’war,
Where everyone hugs
Instead of tugs,
Where everyone giggles
And rolls on the rug,
Where everyone kisses,
And everyone grins,
And everyone cuddles,
And everyone wins.

Comparisons! Comparisons! Comparisons! Comparisons! Reviews and Polls.

June 30, 2008 by Alex T.

I believe the best way to get know some stuff is to compare different competitors out there.

So I thought, why don’t start a comparison website? As any other site a site for comparisons should have a name (domain name). At that point of time (when I was considering to start the comparisons review blog/site) I was active reader of http://nichegeek.com/. That is a niche blog and I wanted to do some social ala web 2.0 comparison community. So I came up with this name: ComparisonGeeks.com

It supposed to be a website with comparison reviews & active community of comparison geeks who eager to compare anything versus everything.

Initialy I wanted to have comparison polls on the same site. But I’ve decided to decouple one kind of polls into a separate project. I’m talking about tug of war – it’s a game when 2 teams pull a rope and the one who stronger do win. This is a good visualisation of “holy wars” and I decided to dedicated a special poll/voting site to the idea and named it as TugsOfWar.com.

It’s long time to go. Hope it will be useful.

How do you think which one will be more popular?

Tug of war” is a game where 2 teams pull a rope.

This statement also used to describe situation when 2 camps trying to pull someone opinion to their side.

Here is a site http://TugsOfWar.com/ that helps do comparison polls in “tug-o-war” style for free.

Sochi 2014 – Hostels vs Hotels

July 7, 2007 by Alex T.

Sochi has won the right to hold Winter 2014 Olympic Games.

What’s interesting is that Sochi does not have a lot of budged accomodations. It has a lot’s of resors and hotels but I think to acoomodate all the guests coming to the games Sochi will need to build more hostels by winter 2014.

What do you think about Hostels vs. Hotels?

UK vs. USA vs. Irish dog boardings

June 6, 2007 by Alex T.

Strange that Google does not index UK dog boardings & Irish dog boarding versusto USA dog boardings that index well.

All 3 are listed on www.dogboardings.com. I’ll need to look into details and compare why it happens.

By the way, how do you think what is the best country to live in – USA vs. Ireland?

Oracle vs. MS SQL Server

May 30, 2007 by Alex T.

I’ve got another 2 cents why I would prefer MS SQL server to Orace in Oracle vs. MS SQL Server battle.

Just expirienced strange bug with Oracle ROLLUP when we’ve migrated our Oracle database from 9.0.2.6 to 9.0.2.8.

I’ll need create a survey on DBMS systems to see what my peers prefer as a database managment system.
